THE PROMISED LAND

How Did God Write the Bible?

DID God use a computer or a pencil or a pen to write the Bible?  No, that was not the way.  He told many different people to write parts of His letter.  He told them what to say, and they wrote it all down for us to read.

How did God tell the people what to write?  Sometimes He sent them dreams.   In their dreams God told them what He wanted His people to know and do.  Then the writers wrote down what God told them.  Sometimes God sent them visions.  If they had a vision, that means they were sitting or standing somewhere and suddenly saw a picture in their mind.  Then they wrote down what they saw.  And sometimes God spoke with a voice just like you and I do when we talk to each other.  Finally, all of the messages God gave to these people were put together in a book, the Bible.

What a wonderful book to have!  How kind God was to write us this letter that tells us what He wants us to know and do.

Our pastor, Bro. Sammy, reads the Bible a lot, and that is one reason why he is such a good person.  Yes, he can make mistakes.  But when he reads the Bible, God helps him know what is right.  God will help you, too, when you know what He wants.  He tells you this in His letter to you, the Bible.

A BIBLE VERSE TO READ

It was the Holy Spirit who moved the prophets to speak from God.

POWER THOUGHT

When in doubt, read the instruction book.

What’s new for September

Be on the lookout for the brand new NBC Hand Bell Choir, appearing on Sunday morning, September 9th for their first performance.  This group of 8 children have been working hard, preparing to share this ministry with everyone.  So don’t miss this great event!

DID you know that on Wednesday night, September 12th we will not have regular services at the church.  Instead, we will be going to Donald and Carla Hendrix home for a great BIG Fish Fry and a Baptism.  I have it from a reliable source that there will be a baptism in the pool that night and that a couple of our children just might take that plunge for Jesus along with a few other Christians.  WOW!  What a special Fish Fry this will be.

Performing Arts Team – Goodness, what a long fantsy name!

This group of talented Christians will be presenting a Human Video on Sunday morning, September 16th.  I can’t wait to see this one!  How about you?  Will you be there?

LITTLE BUCKAROOS PARTY RANCH – Wow now that sounds like loads of fun.  Well, they tell me that we are going pony riding and then on to a picnic in the park.  How many of you out there know how to ride a pony?  Well I’ve been told that they will have people there to help those of us that have never ridden before.  So don’t miss this outing on Saturday, September 22nd.  We will leave the church at 9:00am and arrive back around 1:00pm.

“I Am A C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N” This is the new song that the Children’s Choir at NBC will be performing on Sunday Morning, September 23rd.  What a wonderful sound it is to hear all the children practicing on Wednesday nights and again on Sunday morning.  So parents don’t miss this wonderful memory that our children will be creating for us.
